Ordinary Roots vacuum pumps cannot be used alone and must be combined with a suitable fore vacuum pump.
The function of the fore vacuum pump is to reduce the discharge pressure of the Roots vacuum pump, so that the inlet and exhaust pressure difference and compression ratio of the Roots vacuum pump are controlled within a certain range.
Since the compression ratio of the Roots vacuum pump is limited, it is important to select the pumping speed of the front stage vacuum pump.
The maximum compression ratio of the Roots vacuum pump varies with the discharge pressure.
At high discharge pressure, the maximum compression ratio is 3:1, and the highest compression ratio is 40:1 between discharge pressures of 0.1 to 1 KPa. Even higher.
The number of stages of the vacuum unit is determined by the working vacuum. The ultimate vacuum of a typical vacuum unit must be one-half to an order of magnitude higher than the working vacuum. According to the working pressure of each vacuum system, the following points must be mastered when selecting the unit:
| |
1 | The main pump must work within its optimal working range |
2 | The compression ratio of the main pump or the intermediate pump to the fore pump shall not exceed the allowable range |
3 | The ratio of the fore pump to the first-stage Roots pump is as small as possible. When the performance of the current stage pump is reduced, it will not have a big impact on the pumping performance of the system |
